We work with artists, institutions, and companies to develop sound projects and educational formats rooted in research and experimentation.
Pase is a collaborative platform dedicated to sound, space, and technology. Our activities combine research, production, and learning, with a focus on spatial sound and immersive media. The Research and Development area explores new uses of spatialization, interactive systems, and custom-built tools, applied in installations, performances, and multimedia works. The Production area provides technical support and tailored setups, helping artists and partners shape and realize their projects. Our Educational programs include workshops, courses, and mentoring pathways aimed at sharing knowledge through hands-on experience and critical listening. Pase brings together different fields and people around shared practices, supporting concrete processes and long-term collaborations.
At Pase, we design and test systems for spatial sound, interaction, and immersive media. Our approach combines artistic needs with technical development and research practice.
Spatial & interactive systems
We design and develop tools for spatial sound and interactive environments. Our work includes multichannel audio configurations, DSP-based systems, and custom-built interfaces that combine software and hardware. These systems are used in performances, installations, and hybrid media formats, and are developed in dialogue with artists and project-specific needs. From immersive playback setups to real-time control environments, we focus on flexibility, reliability, and integration across different platforms and technologies.
Shared Resources
Some of the tools developed at Pase — including patches, prototypes, and curated sound libraries — are shared with artists and collaborators working on-site. These materials will gradually be made available through a membership program currently in development.
Custom tools & applications
We create tools for spatial sound and immersive formats, including control software, mobile interfaces, open-source modules for 3D audio, and sync systems for multichannel and VR-based setups.
People
Riccardo Sellan

(Pordenone, 1996) Following a degree in Electronic Music from the Conservatory of Music “B. Marcello” in Venice, he began developing audio software independently, focusing on sound design, multimedia installations, and performances. Continuing to navigate between the artistic and technological worlds as a composer and programmer, he has collaborated on numerous projects and with institutions such as Radio France Internationale, La Biennale di Venezia, IUAV, Monom, Artechouse and others.
He currently lives in Berlin, where he continues his personal and artistic research into the creation of innovative software and tools in the field of sound. He is currently working as an interactive audio software developer at NevaXR and Tilde.
Pierpaolo Ovarini

(Urbino, 1998) obtained a Master’s Degree in Sound Design from the G.B. Martini Conservatory in Bologna, where he graduated with honors. He is currently active as a producer, composer and sound artist, with a strong interest in software development applied to sound design, interactive audio, multimedia arts, and live performance. He has developed various software tools for mixing, sound spatialization, and interactive multimedia audio experiences, both as standalone applications and for Max for Live. Additionally, he has collaborated with various organizations, including the Centre Grame in Lyon, the Homemovies archive and Musixmatch. He is currently a PhD researcher for Tempo Reale in Florence under the academic supervision of the Conservatory of Bologna and the Fine Arts Academy of Naples.
Pase encourages the involvement of external collaborators such as artists, developers, and industry professionals, with the aim of enriching and ensuring a stimulating, creative, and professional environment.
Creative development & artistic direction
Project development begins with defining core ideas, narrative frameworks, and spatial or sonic strategies. Each context is approached with attention to its conceptual needs and artistic direction, from early exploration to structured formats.
Immersive & interactive design
Immersive environments are shaped through spatialized sound, responsive systems, and site-specific configurations. Designs adapt to the architecture and dynamics of the space, allowing interaction to become part of the experience.
Composition & sound design
Original sound materials are developed to support installations, performances, and audiovisual works. The process includes composition, sound design, and the creation of dynamic soundscapes in stereo, binaural, and multichannel formats.
Project development & prototyping
From early tests to production-ready systems, concepts are translated into functional setups. Prototyping includes spatial layouts, interactive elements, and technical integration tailored to artistic and production needs.
We integrate technical solutions with creativity, from sound spatialization to advanced setups, ensuring precision, alignment with artistic goals, and access to professional equipment and resources.
